On the other hand, some people just need a dedicated space to freely express their creativity. 

That is where this remodel fits in. We converted that huge open-to-below space into a NEW WORKSHOP!

Now the artist can paint unperturbed, without having to worry about leaving a mess around the other parts of the home. 

The downstairs quality-of-life did NOT receive a downgrade due to the new high ceiling conversion. 

We didn't just put any ordinary ceiling down below - we added a luxurious COFFERED CEILING!

The added ceiling below helps a lot with reducing the ambient echo in the room, resulting in much superior acoustics compared to the pre-existing high ceiling space. 

​In addition to that, the lighting below also sports a major upgrade! By adding a reflective surface much closer to the ground - as well as having light fixtures embedded in the coffered ceiling - the result is a cozy living room with a much warmer glow to it.

This project isn't going to be your typical room addition. Instead of building an entirely new room in their open-to-below space, we will be expanding one of their existing rooms. You probably have a room in your home that could use a little more space if you think about it. More space, but at a very affordable cost.

To be more specific, we will be enlarging the existing bedroom closest to the front entrance. As-is, the bedroom is serviceable, if not a bit small. As children mature, the lack of space becomes more of an issue. In this case, maximizing an existing room makes more sense for the family. 

The bedroom is going to gain more livable square footage by building into their existing vaulted ceiling - but there's more to it. We will also be expanding outwards into their porch entryway! 

Our architectural design team is working hard to produce the 3D visuals. We will update this project as it moves along, so stay tuned!

​A massive open-to-below space with a flat ceiling - this is what we like to see. The price to square footage ratio in this scenario is the most ideal, leaving both the CALOFT team AND the homeowners happy! 

​But what are they getting? An enormous open loft bonus room, for starters. For the purposes of code and function, this new space will also be receiving two new enlarged windows. 

As for access, a new walkway will be built, punctuated by a low-wall barrier (pony wall) with a decorative paint-grade rail cap included. This means that not only will this new access point be functional, but appealing for the eyes as well!

Our expert architectural design team (TruPlans) is currently hard at work producing the 3D visuals, which will be sure to wow the homeowners. Updates will be posted as this project moves along, so stay tuned!
