​This Oceanside property is in the process of a magnificent transformation - gaining multiple new rooms over their existing open-to-below space!

The short above provides a very brief glimpse into this home's near future. A massive open-to-below space with a non-vaulted ceiling is the perfect recipe for our high ceiling conversion process. 

A new bedroom w/ closet & bathroom is currently in-the-works. In addition, there will be a new laundry room right next to the bedroom. The existing laundry room below will be repurposed into a mud room.

This question is asked all the time. Over the decades we found a number of unique uses for high ceiling homes. Mostly, they just collect spider webs up high in the corners where you can't easily reach to clean. But every once in a while we see someone using their high ceilings for something else.

The real question is; would you have planned for all that open space if you were designing your own home from the beginning? Would you have intentionally left that space vacant or would you have designed an extra bedroom or home office?

This short video makes a point. What are those cathedral ceilings really good for? Looking at is probably a common answer too. How do the high volume ceilings make you feel? Does your house feel larger than it really is? Does it look larger than it really is?

Regardless of the answer you land on you probably should not be flying drones in the house for safety reasons. I'm just a dog. Now I've seen the pet birds get their exercise in these vaulted spaces. But as a dog I prefer to have my own room.
